What a busy day at #Rotary! We awarded scholarships to 19 non-traditional students, gave $1,500 to ArtSpace/Lima for their educational programming, announced plans to help the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District rebuild the All People's Trail at Kendrick Woods, and heard all about the Lima Astronomical Society from its president, David Humphreys. Thanks for all your support that allows us to provide such tremendous benefit to our community!
Friday December 7th is the last monthly meeting of the year for the Lima Astronomical Society at Schoonover Observatory. Meeting starts at 8:00 pm followed by a program by Michael Ritchie on whatever the group would like to discuss Astonomically. This form of discussion has been well received in the past and gets everyone to participate.
Observing with the domed telescope will be weather permitting. We are suppose to have a couple somewhat clear days starting Friday so come on out Friday and take a look at the new ometepe or supernovae.The International Observe the Moon Night scheduled for 6:00pm tonight at Kendrick Woods has been cancelled. There will be nearly 0% chance of any clear skies for this evening.
Schoonover Observatory will be open November 2nd 2018 at 8:00pm for our monthly meeting. Come see us then.This Saturday October 13th, 2018 is National Astronomy Day. This is the second day this year we celebrate and Bring Astronomy to the people.
We will have Schoonover Observatory open at 12:00 noon until late evening in order to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the wonders of the Universe.
Yes, we can see the Sun (with special filters), the Moon, some Planets, and a few Stars during the day when it's clear out.
Besides observing, we will have talks and videos on Astronomy, handouts, and we can answer all your questions. We can also sign you up for a membership to allow you use of the Observatory.
